Ciara vs. Modern Day Sexism
Recently, a lot of controversy has been raised over the already controversial ex couple, Future and Ciara. If you are not familiar with their history let me attempt to sum it up for you. They were in love, had a beautiful baby, soon to be married until Future somehow forgot that and ruined the relationship by cheating. Since then, numerous subs and attacks have been thrown at each other (mostly by Future). The jabs range from Future throwing shots at Ciara's new fiance Russel Wilson for being around his son and evidently leaving subtle death threats to Wilson??? However, that's another long cringing story.
After all, I'm not here to give you celebrity gossip, I'm here to give you truth. In this whole journey of feuds and disputes between the two, Ciara seems to always respond with class and integrity. She has been quoted saying,"Some Person Is So Dishonest and Ignorant That They Don’t Deserve A Response.” Unfortunately, this didn't stop Future from backing down. Harsh words like "bitch" and claims of Ciara having "control problems" began to surface on the "Wicked" rapper's Twitter. In addition, the rapper's fans defended him by slandering Ciara on social media saying things like "she's so annoying" or labeling her an "attention seeker" or "gold digger". All that is very ironic considering the fact that Ciara never initiated an attack on Future but vice versa. So eventually, Ciara got tired of the nonsense and sued her ex Fiance for defamation of character. Which even added fuel to the fire from petty and misogynistic Future fans.
Something I found interesting about the court case was the thumb thugging rapper Future actually was being honest. He admitted that past claims saying that he wasn't allowed to see their son, baby future was false.
He also admitted that he didn't pay 15K in child support and that number was fabricated.
To finalize this court case Future made it apparent that in fact he was the "attention seeking" one in the relationship because these shots at Ciara were made to promote his music.
With all this being said, it still stuns me to go on twitter and still see all the ignorance thrown at Ciara. She has never been one to be problematic in my eyes. However this is a different story to some. After a heartbreaking separation from her ex fiance due to his mistake of cheating, she bounced back. She focused on improvement of herself and music while also getting closer to her son. She proved she didn't need her ex by exerting happiness and peace due to loving herself and what she does. Bonus points were added, when she found another partner who treats her with respect and gives all his loyalty to her. Ciara is a rare breed. She is a beautiful, intelligent, and talented black woman. The thing that makes her stand out is her fierce independence and her lack of seeking anyone's approval. Due to the male dominated world we live in, where women are suppose to be inferior to men, this is problematic. At least its what makes her problematic to sexist and misogynistic world. However, In my world she is a queen, a true role model. Because throughout all the hate and shade, she is still shining.
