Going nude

Image
A recent trend that has took over the fashion world and and Instagram and Tumblr models everywhere is the nude look. Nude lips, accompanied by a fitted dress will stun anyone with it's sexy simplicity. However, being that the definition of nude is wearing no clothes or being naked, nudes are suppose to resemble the color of your skin. So why is it that when ever I see fashion blogs post about nudes the colors are pale and beige? Those colors are cool and pairs with cocoa skin well but to most black and brown girls this is not our nude.    Nevertheless, when it comes to some attire, for example the ones above, they pair with melanin quite well. However, it could pair even better and now with the help of some companies. Nubian skin This company offers lingerie that has the true nudes for black and brown girls. The material of the intimate attire blends beautifully with every skin tone of people with brown skin.

Crazy for Two Cute Puffs! My Current Obsession.

Image
Lately I've noticed a cute not so new trend on the hair scene. Black girls, especially those with natural hair, have been rocking these two adorable buns. Space buns, two puffs, two buns, whatever you want to call them are a quick and easy hairstyle that doesn't make it look like you were lazy with styling your hair. Although, I must admit that the hairstyle was perfect for one like me who didn't feel like spending 45 minutes on twisting my freshly washed hair. I tried the style myself for the first time this week and loved it. It took only 5 minutes to achieve and lasted me through the week. Not to mention, its a protective style so there was no need to worry about breakage or damaging due to too much manipulation. I also, added a little something extra with a cute headband. What are your thoughts on this protective style ?

Late Night Inspiration

Late at night is when things start to hit you. All of the things you were pushing back throughout the day come forward. All the dark secrets or fears come to light. You just start thinking, dang what if I'll never get over this setback? What if I never reach the come up I dreamed of? Just a lot of what ifs. One thing I've learned is its good to acknowledge these thoughts. It leads you to address the problem. So while you are up take time out to think of solutions to the problems. If you can't think of anything, think of things you can do to replace your negative emotions with positive ones. If the problem is really eating you up talk to someone about it. Getting all your thoughts out of your system helps, trust me. Just don't go to sleep without hope. You never know what tomorrow has for you. So when all that is done go to sleep. Get your rest. I don't care what you heard you need those good hours of sleep. Sleep good so you will be ready to tackle a new day with ne...

Hip Hop Honors and Why It Was So Important

I don't watch TV often. Most of the time I'm on Netflix or looking at makeup tutorials on YouTube. When I do watch TV it's definitely for a special occasion. What could be more special than seeing the queens of Hip Hop being honored with special tributes by other women in the industry? Not much if you ask me. If you know me, you know I am a huge Hip Hop lover. If you really know me, you know I'm all for the unity and love of black women. With that being said, I was very eager to see this ceremony and all my expectations were met. The event focused on honoring the OG's of the female rap game which are Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, and Salt N Pepa featuring DJ Spinderella. It was also hosted by another gem in Hip Hop, Eve.The honors ceremony had several energetic performances through out the show accompanied by tons of tributes to the honorees from new and old generation artist. I will post details and highlights of the show soon. Now, in this message I just want to give p...

Black lives and minds matter.

Here we go again. Another, innocent pedestrian murdered in cold blood for absolutely nothing. The one factor that led this to happen, the color of their skin. Except, this time in the course of 24 hours there wasn't just one case like this, there was in fact 2. Alton Sterling, a father of 5, who was trying to make a living by selling CD's in front  of a store, shoot 6 times on video. Philando Castline, shot and killed in a car alongside his fiance and her daughter. Although this is horrifying, sadly enough can we really say it is shocking? The list of people lost from police brutality seems to grow every day. So no, I personally cannot say any of these events are shocking, and that is very sad. Not to mention, seeing these things on video. It shouldn't be normal to see someone dying on your TL. However, in these recent events there has been pictures and video surfaced on mass media and no one has taught about the effects it has on peoples lives. Just think of the family of...

Ciara vs. Modern Day Sexism

Image
Recently, a lot of controversy has been raised over the already controversial ex couple, Future and Ciara. If you are not familiar with their history let me attempt to sum it up for you. They were in love, had a beautiful baby, soon to be married until Future somehow forgot that and ruined the relationship by cheating. Since then, numerous subs and attacks have been thrown at each other (mostly by  Future). The jabs range from Future throwing shots at Ciara's new fiance Russel Wilson for being around his son and evidently leaving subtle death threats to Wilson??? However, that's another long cringing story. After all, I'm not here to give you celebrity gossip, I'm here to give you truth. In this whole journey of feuds and disputes between the two, Ciara seems to always respond with class and integrity. She has been quoted saying,"Some Person Is So Dishonest and Ignorant That They Don’t Deserve A Response.” Unfortunately, this didn't stop Future from backing do...

New Blog PSA

Being that this is my very new and very first blog I am learning as I go. I created this blog in particular to showcase my thoughts, passions, and even writings from other sites. Some things you might see on this site may include black culture, food, music appreciation posts, fashion, and ramblings of a confused yet zealous teenager. I would really appreciate any feedback through comments, shares, and of course follows or subscriptions to this blog. Enjoy! With much love, Kennadi
