Positivity Overload
Sometimes life sucks. There's no easy way to get around it. Nevertheless, I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason. However, that doesn’t change the fact that in some situations it's nearly impossible to try and find positive in the situation. Maybe you are going through a break up with someone you thought was the love of your life, maybe you failed a big test that could mess up your whole future, maybe you are grieving the loss of a loved one. In instances like these, it's hard to sprinkle positivity on it and go on about your day. So should we feel shamed by not looking on the bright side?
My goal is to inspire others and to help them improve their quality of life. To do that, I have to acknowledge everything that happens in their life, not just the good things. It is good to have a positive outlook on things but, people who preach positivity and nothing but that can make a huge mistake. They could lead others to believe that they are not allowed to hurt or feel bad. You could say they teach to cover up the scars and wounds of burden someone carries. However, covering them will only make it worse in the long run. Instead, we need to embrace those scars and heal wounds. For lack of a metaphor, we need to deal with problems head-on. The process of dealing with problems can be hard. However, when the problem is properly dealt with it can give you a better feeling than
any positive affirmation can.
A lot of people try to sell the key to happiness through books, possessions, or ideas but the reality is we simply cannot always be happy. There is nothing wrong with trying to be optimistic about life, however, we should not overlook our dark moments. There will be sometimes when pain hurts so deep you can’t really do anything besides let it run its course. See the thing is, we sometimes need these dark moments. When we experience these moments, we learn. Those feelings of pain hurt so bad we want to do anything we don’t have to feel it again. So, in the end, the pain we fell allows us to move better and smarter in the future.
Make no mistake, you should not make this an excuse to be negative or gloomy all the time. Being positive can be a good thing when used in proper amounts. As a matter a fact, you should try to be positive most of the time. Just know you don’t have to be all of the time.
With that being said, when you are going through hard times don’t feel the pressure to look on the bright side. Don’t feel like you are wrong for simply feeling bad. Just let the pain run its course and then try to deal with the situation. Human life is really just a bunch of up and downs. There really is no true destination for happiness, just a long journey.
